Thailand ODS Phaseout Project
19 Sep 2015
Thailand, by the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) as a Focal Point, has been the Party to the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol on 7 July 1989, which entered into force on 5 October 1989, with following objectives:
- To present responsibility and international coordination to protect the world's environment.
- To avoid the deficiency of ODSs which are the controlled substances under the Montreal Protocol. Thailand doesn't produce any types of ODSs, therefore, to meet the domestic need, the country has to import all of such from other Parties.
- To protect Thai products which are contained or produced by ODSs.
- To assist Thai industries to be ready for the phase-out of ODS by receiving technical and financial assistance from the Montreal Protocol.
